Hello,
I have tried using several ways to get this package to install.
Everything I try fails.
When I let the online software updates run, it just tells me that it was not
able to install.
If I go to MS office Update site, it too fails, and does not tell me that
much.
If I go to the KB article and follow the links to the FULL file download, it
too fails. However, this one is a bit smarter at least it claims the TMP file
does not exists. It gives me an error code of 1101, and then backs out all of
the changes.
I have watched this folders that the files are being unpacked into and the
file that it claims does not exist, does exist for a short time, and then
it's size changes to a zero byte size, when it was much larger to start with.
I have checked the OSE.exe service and it was manual and I even started it,
no change.
I changed the PATH setting referred to in yet another thread here and it too
make not change, as it still fails. This was referenced in the KB article
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=884298
I have removed All development software, i.e. Visual Studio, FrontPage, VB
Express, this did help, as it is still fails.
Removing Office pro, and reinstall (Full Install), no change still fails.
The only choice I am seeing is to FDisk the whole thing and start a new.
This laptop had just had a new HD put in and all software put in clean less
than 2 months back. In addition is had not been in service much at all. So it
should be clean.
I have NOD32 and Defender both running and even disabling these does not help.
It would be nice to see better error handling, and self-healing patches.
When these errors happen, many users need help in solving and due the type of
errors that MS is trying to correct, these errors really need to be correct
to closed security risks.
Hope some one can help ore point to a KB article or some other source.
Thanks for the time in advance,
Stephen
