Execute method and QBE give different results

I am using the ADO execute method to make a table of
results. When I paste the identical SQL statement into QBE
I get a slightly (but significantly) different result.

Why does the same SQL statement generate 2 outcomes when
using Execute and QBE?

Any Clues?
