Execution Error "5"

On my previous message, I forgot to mention that since I
have started experiencing this problem, I no longer have
menu bars in Word ... therefor am unable to do very much
in terms of modifying or doing much else than type
documents. Even to save I must exit the program and then
answer yes to saving the document. I am no longer able to
access even the Option menu !!!!

Extremely frustrating and counterproductive.

Also I have pperformed a virus scann and that turned up
negative. Also, I have not found any reference to error %
on the KB ... both French and English

Any help will be greatly appreciated

Hi Camille,

FWIW, I've had a problem with Word starting without menu bars before and
corrected the problem by following these steps:

1. In Microsoft Windows 95, click the shortcut icon for Microsoft Word using
the right mouse button, click Properties, and then click the Shortcut tab.
In Microsoft Windows NT, click the Word program icon, and then click
Properties on the File menu.

2. In the Target box or the Command Line box, enter the path to Word; this
path is usually C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\Winword.exe

3. Add the \a switch to the Command Line box, so that it's something like
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\Winword.exe \a

Not sure if this will solve your problem, but it's easy and probably worth a
shot.
