Can you access other files in the same directory? Is it only Excel
files, or all documents?

What does "can't open mean? Do you get an error? If so, what's the error
message? If not, what happens?

Have you tried using File/Open?

I'm also curious, what happens if you copy the file to your local hard
drive and try to open it. Will it open or does it have a problem
locally as well? If you can't open it locally then I'd suspect file
corruption, if you can open it locally, then I'd be investigating
either permissions or something within your network.
