Existing Sharepoint Environment and New Project Install

I have a large Sharepoint environment currently running with Sharepoint
Portal being whats used to access WSS. We have some clients that would like
to use Project Server to handle their projects. Now if we do this, the
physical server that exists already has Portal and WSS on it and if/when we
are to install Project Server, it will be on a different box.

I've read the guide where it talks about if you install Project and Portal
on the same server, but this is not our case .

Is this possible to let Project have its own little section of Services to
use without killing our existing database of Sharepoint sites? Is there a
guide which shows how to do this. The installation guide is somewhat vague on
the scenario it paints for its existing database section.

Also- is Project Server just the acting "portal" for WSS instead of
Sharepoint Portal when it is installed?

I don't understand what you are trying to do, so let me reword here
and see if I got it right:

- You have SharePoint Portal and SharePoint Services installed on the
same server. I assume the SQL database server is on a second server.

- You want to install MS Project Server with SharePoint Services on a
different server but you want to use the same SQL server.

Is this what you mean?

If that is what you mean, no problem, just install MS Project Server
with SharePoint Services.

Last question:

MS Project Server is the login point, generally speaking, to
SharePoint Services; however, you can go to the SharePoint site
directly if you wish. In addition, you can connect your SharePoint
Portal site to MS Project Server through the Admin interface in
MS Project Server.

That's it...

You are correct about your assumption of the environment but there is once
piece I still want to be sure about.

We want to keep our existing Sharepoint and its Database going like it
always has. For the people who won't be in the group that uses Project, we
want the Project side of Sharepoint to be transparent to them. However, we do
want the Project people to use the same database (or extension thereof) so
that we don't have to make another SQL box just for Project.

Does that clarify my question any better?

HELP.
we are also using Sharepiont in our Org. Now we wish to Install Project
Server 2003
Project Proffessional 2003, on the same server which is running Sharepoint.

We Installed all three On Test Server.
the following are the problems
1) In the Admin page - Manage Windows Sharepoint Services -
When clicked on "http://spserver:80/sites/MS_ProjectServer_PublicDocuments"
following error is displayed "The Web site that is referenced here is not in
the configuration database."
2)When clicked on Projects - Manage Administrative Projects - Add Projects -
it says "Microsoft Office Project Required"
How to Solve this?

Any Ideas! Please help
