I just noticed something very strange occurring in one of my Entourage
identities. If I display any mail folder's contents using "Show in Groups"
and the preview pane is either off or under the messages, the groups will
not expand or collapse by clicking on the triangles. They stay in whatever
position they are already in -- either all open or all closed. "Expand All"
and "Collapse All" menu commands work. The triangles work correctly if the
preview pane is on the right -- individual groups can be expanded or
collapsed.
This does not occur with any of my other identities. I have tried
rebuilding the database and deleting custom arrangements (the problem occurs
with any sorting -- not just while using custom arrangements).
In this same identity, the grouping of Newsgroup messages works fine,
regardless of the location of the preview pane. The problem seems to be
limited to displaying mail folders or custom mail views.
I have just applied the 11.3.5 patch; the problem was occurring while Office
was at 11.3.3 as well. OS X 10.4.9, PPC.
Has anyone seen this problem before? It smacks of database corruption since
it occurs only in one identity, but it's a new identity and, as mentioned
previously, I rebuilt the database.
