Back on January 26th I posted a question about my normal.dot expanding and I
observed even opening Word (not a file, just the program) caused the
normal.dot file to prompt me for saving. After other problems began
happening I decided to format the HDD and reinstall. When the normal.dot
issue reappeared, I had a pretty good idea where to look. The issue is known
and relates to Acrobate 7.0 among other Adobe programs. See

My specific issue was a slight variation or subpart of the KB article. I
had the problem *only* when using Word as my Outlook 2002 editor. So I tried
and resolved the issue by removing the PDFMOutlook registry key. Incidently
I found this solution by Googling [Outlook 2002 "normal.dot" save]
Again a thank you to Charles and Suzanne who pointed me in the direction of
Add-ins.
