Expanding/reducing an image (that apparently can't be done) - Example

Hello,

I have for a very long time looked for a way of having a header picture that can expand and retract to the width of a window, irrespective of window size. The other day I came across a site that has that ability: "http://www.tradermotoryachts.com/frame.html".

If you have a look at this site, and reduce, or expand, the window you will see that the wave pattern in the header also reduces and expands to fit the displayed window. The image is neither compressed nor streched, but maintains it aspect ratio.

Can anyone tell me how to implement this (or something similar) in FrontPage 2003?

I would appreciate any ideas or suggestions on how this done.

Best regards

Go here and you'll see.

http://www.tradermotoryachts.com/topnav.html

The page has a tiling background image that 'fills in the extra space".

Murray,

Thanks very much.

I'll see if I can create something similar. I do not want the scripting,
which, besides, is rather fun in a way, but just a kind of image (not a
picture) that "stretches" across the full width of a window, irrespective of
window size. I found the wave pattern rather intriguing in its simplicity
and the way it multiplies across the window in one wave form..

I'll dissect in the weekend and see what I come up with.

Once again, thank you.

I'll say it again - it's not stretching, it's simply tiling. The image
itself is a single 'repeat' of that waveform, and it tiles across and down
to fill the screen.

One doesn't "stretch" images on the web, unless they are very special
images.

And by the way, there is no scripting involved in this page.

Open that website with FP and you can see exactly how it's done. You can
also do it without the frame.
