Explanations on document types

I am new to InfoPath. I created a from from scratch; it saves as an .xsn. I
published the template to another location on my hard drive. The form opens
fine. Eventually, the form will be published to a shared location. Will
users input information into the template? Or, will users input information
into an .xml file? How does this work exactly? I've read a bit of help
documentation, but would like some clarification as I am getting errors with
the template after a few times opening the document (comes up scambled). Is
there a clear way to make the transition from .xsn to .xml?

Thanks,

Londa Sue

So, no matter where it is saved it becomes an XML, right? I'm asking this
basic question because I keep getting a scrambled doc after I publish it to
another location on my hard drive. I go to that location to bring up the
form (.xsn), fill it out, and save to same location. Is it the same location
that is causing it to become scrambled? Hmm. Maybe I didn't change the file
name. Lightbulb.

Thanks Bryan,
