Exponential increase in Main Identity

H

HAL KUSHNER

My Main Identity (in MS User Data/Office 2004 Identities/Main ID) continues
to sop up gigabytes in an exponential fashion. It now has 28.9 GB....The
Old Database within it contains 14.5 and the ŒDatabase¹ has 14.4.
I am running OS X.3.9 and MS Office 2004/Entourage 11.3.3 on an IMAC G-5
/1/8 GHz.

Question: 1. How to keep the size from building so rapidly?
2. Can I trash or archive the ŒOld Database¹?

Actually, I¹m just an individual with fairly busy email....a couple of
hundred messages per day, most of them spam or old jokes, and an address
book and calendar which is small....I don¹t get it.

Thanks and Help.

When you rebuild your database, Entourage creates a duplicate. Unless you
trash the old databases, then your folder could get quite large. So yes, you
can trash the old database. It¹s there in case you need to revert to the
original if the rebuild goes bad.

A 14.4 GB database is quite large. Do you have a lot of projects and
attachments? I suggest pruning your database. There are several options to
reduce and/or archive your data.
