export contacts and email folders

Can anyone give me step by step instructions on how to
export my contacts and all of my email folders to my
computer at home?

I already have some contacts and emails on my home
computer but I want to update them so they are the same
from work.

Should I delete all of my contacts and emails at my home
computer before I import the files?

I've tried to do this by myself but I have problems on
how to convert the file to something that outlook 2002
will accept.

What type of information store and in what version of Outlook?
