Export Contacts Category to Excel

Office XP

I have several hundred Contacts all grouped into a
category in Outlook. I need to have this in a database
format, and am wanting to export or transfer this to
Excel.

The Help section doesn't cover this very clearly. Any
advice greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Switch to the By Category view of your Contacts folder so that those
particular contacts are in their own group. Create a new (temporary)
Contacts folder. Select all the contacts in the one category, right-click
the group and drag it to the temporary folder. Choose "Copy" from the popup
menu when you release the mouse button. Once the contacts are in the temp
folder, go to File | Import and Export | Export to a file. Choose Microsoft
Excel from the list, click Next, then choose the temporary folder as the
source for the export. Follow the rest of the prompts to create the Excel
spreadsheet.

Once you're done with all this, you can delete the temporary folder. (Don't
delete it permanently until you've verified that the original contacts are
still in the original Contacts folder.)
