Export contacts from PC to Mac

On the PC: XP Pro SP2 Outlook 2002 with a ton of contacts. I just cannot
copy them manually over to

Mac OS X 10.3.8 with Mail and Entourage Mac 2004. It appears to
me that .pst files from PC are not recognized by either application
and an comma-separated Excel file doesn't integer itself well into either
application either (fields are off and I am not getting the notes in
each contact from Outlook 2002- in some cases it's the most important aspect
of the contact).

Could anyone shed some light on this strange situation (why doesn Entourage
2004 recognize .pst files made on PC????)
