We export our contacts from Entourage 2008 to a tab-delimited text file.

When we import this text file in Excel 2008, the data is displayed correctly in the wizard. Once the spreadsheet is created, the umlauts are corrupted!

This is so very basic - please get this fixed soon!!!

Apple Numbers handles the file correctly, Word 2008 and Text Edit display the exported contacts file well too.

This is a peer-to-peer newsgroup, not a Microsoft tech support group
(although MS provides the servers).

To make a request of MS, use the Send Feedback command on the Help menu of
any Office application.

I agree that this is something MacBU should fix but this appears to be
an Excel problem not an Entourage problem.

In my testing the umlauts over the letter "u" imported as "ü", which
you can search and replace with "ü".

Annoying to have to do but not difficult to correct.

Hope this helps!
