export email address from contacts creates smtp duplicate smtp add

When I export from Outlook contacts folder to an Access database all of the
e-mail addresses are doubled and in the form
(e-mail address removed) smtp (e-mail address removed)

How can I get just plain email addresses exported?

Environment:
Outlook 2000, Windows 2000, Access 2000
Corporate network with Exchange 5
