Export Favourites list from Excel to Mozilla navigator: What forma

I have list of over 500 webs in Excel 2000. I want to export them to Mozilla
Firefox as Favourites. I follow the Mozilla assistant, import, but it does
nothing.(So far, no problems with Mozilla Firefox 1.0.7).
The original excel file must be closed?
The web address, can be e.g. microsoft.com ( w.o. the www or http)?. Can
there be some URL´s with www. or http, and others with out?
Can I import another column with the web description? Perhaps joining/fusing
both columns?
