Export folder sizes

Hi,

I searched for this on the net, but couldn't find any solution: is it
possible to export the outlook folder sizes to something like xls or txt, so
that they can be sorted (by size)? It seems like a natural thing to do and I
expected there was an easy to do this, but I haven't been able to find it.
The reason I want to do this is because I have reached the quota on my
mailbox and need to delete old/unnecessary emails. As I have *a lot* of
folders, I want to concentrate on the largest ones first. Before you suggest
archiving to a PST, this is not allowed by our IT department and we're
blocked from using PSTs at all.

PS: I am using Outlook 2007 on windows XP SP3 (prof. edition) if that makes
any difference.

There is no method to do this. Use the large messages search folder or
create a new search folder to find all messages over a certain size, all
messages with attachments, all messages over a certain age etc. You can
group by folder and delete the messages you don't need.

Thanks, it'd be a good improvement to consider for future versions. Even the
ability to do a simple CTRL+C and CTRL+V to copy and paste the whole listing
would be very useful, as well as the ability to resize the Folder Size
window.

Honestly, it doesn't get a lot of use so I don't see them putting a lot of
time into the dialog. Most users don't know (and don't care) about folder
sizes.

time into the dialog. Most users don't know (and don't care) about folder
sizes.

That's a shame :-( I did find a commercial product
(http://www.planetsoftware.com.au/Products/OFS.aspx), but it only works with
Outlook 2003.

I have found a solution. A colleague of mine developed a function in MATLAB
(http://www.mathworks.co.uk/products/matlab/) to retrieve the folder sizes
from Outlook using the ActiveX connection, so I'm all set. I can do all the
processing, sorting and plotting I need in MATLAB.
