Export GIF with transparent background

I'm trying to export a Visio 2003 drawing as a gif without a white box around
the image. The image is an icon with rounded corners; when retrieved in
non-visio application, the four corners of the icon have small white
triangles.

Before saving a window with GIF Output Options appears.
Check "transparency colour" and select white (RGB 255,255,255) there.
For background colour also select white.
