Export Grid to Excel error (ActiveX)

using MSPS2003-PWA
While in PWA I'm trying to export information to Excel by clicking on the (
Export Grid to Excel function) and get the following error message " The
ActiveX control on which this feature depends could not be created, Becuaes
of this error you can only copy the xml data to the clipboard"
How do I fix this ?

could it be that you use an Excel Version prior to XP?

I'm using Excel 2003 SP2. Some users are not seeing this error and some are.
Where do I look to check if settings are correct?

I would check the Inernet Explorer settings first. Can you install ActiveX
and if so what kind? What user rights do these users have that have the
problem, do they differ from the once where it works and if so what is the
difference.

I can imagine that you would find the solution in one of these settings.

Hi - We experienced this sporadic issue as well. It turned out that not all
our users were on Office 2003 and we had to migrate everyone to 2003 before
full functionality of MS 2003 Project Server could be realized.

Fixed it here by making sure that the server hosting PWA was in the Trusted
Sites zone. After doing this, the export to Excel option works fine.

Go to Tools, Internet Options and click the Security tab. Click the Trusted
Sites zone, then the Sites button. Fill in the URL of your project server
(http://servername) and click Add.

You should then see at the bottom of the screen in IE "Trusted Sites" when
you visit your Project page instead of Internet or Intranet.

The Export Grid to Excel error can also occur if in the Trusted Zone you
don't have the ActiveX setting of "Initialize and script ActiveX controls not
marked as safe for scripting." This must be set to either Prompt or Enable.
