Export Hotmail Contacts to Outlook XP

Billy T.

I have seen this asked several times with no solution - here is one
way...

First, you must use Outlook Express to obtain the contacts from
Hotmail. To do this:

1. Open Outlook Express.
2. Click Tools, then Accounts
3. Click the Add button on the right, then click Mail...
4. Type your name, click next, type your Hotmail address, click next.
Leave the defaults of "HTTP" and "Hotmail". Click next. Your account
name should be your Hotmail address. Enter your password. Click
next. Click Finish.
5. Now you should see your Hotmail account listed on the right.
6. Click tools, then Address Book.
7. In the Address Book window, click tools, then Synchronize Now.
You should then have all of your Hotmail Contacts displayed in the
Address Book window.

Now...to export them to Outlook

8. Close the Address Book window.
9. Within Outlook Express, click File, then Export, then Address Book
10. This will open the Address Book Export Tool. Choose the option
"Text File (Comma Seperated Values)" Click Export.
11. It will now ask you where to save the contacts file. Click browse
and choose a location (you will need to remember this location and
file name) and choose a name for the file. Click Save.
12. You will be returned to the window with the save path you have
chosen. Click next.
13. It will ask you to choose the fields to export - leave the
defaults chosen. Click Finish.
14. The Addresses will be exported. Click OK, then close the window
and close Outlook Express.

Now to import them to Outlook

15. Open Outlook
16. Click File, then Import and Export
17. Choose Import From Another Program or File, Click next
18. Select File Type to Import From - Choose Comma Seperated Values
(Windows). Click Next.
19. File To Import - Click Browse and locate the file you saved in
step 11. Choose that file and click OK. Click Next.
20. Choose the destination for these contacts - where you want them to
be imported to. Click Next.
21. Click Finish. The Contacts will be imported into your Outlook

EASY, RIGHT?
