Export/import old emails

I used to work off a Compaq laptop that has no burner or
floppy drive (no way to get info off computer other than
email). I just got a desktop computer.

Is there any way to export my archived emails and attach
them in an email so that I can download them onto the
desktop? I've exported them to a .pst file, but Outlook
won't let me attach it to an email. Same thing with my
contacts export - won't let me attach. I get the
message "operation failed".

I'm using Outlook Office XP; windows me on the desktop,
and 98 on the laptop.

Any ideas? Thanks much!

Outlook is not causing the problem. You can most certainly can attach a PST
file to an email.
Exporting is not a recommended way to create PST files.
Just create a new PST file and copy the data you want into it. Then make
sure you close Outlook and reboot so that no connection remains to that PST
when you try to email it.
