Export MS Project Schedule into Excel or Primavera

D

dt @ dsc

Good Morning,

I am working in MS Project Server 2007. I have a project schedule that I
have been asked to export to a client for import into a P3 schedule. He has
advised me that the file must have an .mpx to allow this and I can only see
the option for .mpp.

I also tried to export into Excel, but we have Windows 2007 and the
extension is .xlx and the only option I show is .xls and I'm unable to
complete the export.

Can anyone advise on how I can effectively get my schedule to the client?

I appreciate any help that may be out there. Thanks, Debbie

Microsoft Project 2007 no longer offers the option to export to an MPX file
format, which is the data interchange format with programs like Primavera.
You can save to an Excel spreadsheet (XLS), but you need to change one
default Option setting before you can do this. Click Tools - Options -
Security. In the bottom half of the page, select the "Allow loading files
with legacy or non default file formats" option and click the OK button.
You should now be able to save your project as an Excel spreadsheet (XLS)
file. Hope this helps.

Is this the same for Microsoft Project 2003?

Good question. In Microsoft Project 2003, you cannot save a project file as
an MPX file, but you can OPEN a file saved as an MPX file, such as one saved
from Primavera. Hope this helps.

Hi

I currently have a programme in Project 2007 and the client wants this in P3
format.

Is this possible?

Many thanks

download a mpp to mpx converter , install msp 2003 . directly import all your
plans into primavera.

Note that mpx file format has no time phased elements, so a manually edited
time phase gets flat lined when exported to .mpx.
