I just need to get my personal folders of my old computer xp home edition to
xp professional, i have tried to export but when I get it to the new computer
it needed some type of scan which i did but it still will not copy over the
data, I checked the MS web site help and followed some other instructions ie
copy data to hdd and file - Outlook data file, and it still will not have it.
any suggestions or help PS i have been successful in copying over all
calendar contacts mail and tasks.

Why would you use export? You don't need to export anything. You just want

your data file Why would you not just copy your Outlook Data file?

Explain how exactly you copied over the data file and managed to retrieve
your Contacts etc

tHANK YOU so far, this has not worked I now have 2 personal folders in my new
machine but do not have any of the folders from my old machine. any other

Of course. Close Outlook and copy the file called outlook.pst.

an extra personal folder to my outlook, can you explain to me how to remove
it from my system/outlook.

Your Outlook data file IS just "any old file you might find in Windows" and
as Outlook is closed can be manipulated with Windows Explorer just like all
other Windows files.

If the folder list appears in Outlook, right-click its root and choose
Close. You can then close Outlook and delete the file with Windows
Explorer.

No, if the 2003 pst file is in the default 2003 format. You will have to
create a new pst file in 97-2002 format and copy the data to it from the
2003 format file.

Then you didn't try correctly because the answer is very definitely YES.
'Tools|Email Accounts|View or change existing email accounts|Next', click
the "New Outlook Data File" button and you will be offered:

Office Outlook Personal Folders File (.PST)
Outlook 97-2002 Personal Folders File (.PST)

You want the second option.
