Export projects from Project Server using STSADM or something else-How?

Hi

I'd like to export projects ( not workspaces ) from Project Server
2007 on WSS 3.0 and I was hoping to use STSADM, and do it as a way of
exporting all projects so I could them move them to another server.

Is there any way to do something like this, or do I need to do it
project by project in Project Professional by saving each project as
an MPP file and doing it the long way?

The reason I am doing this is that a farm backup and restore works,
but we lose all the PCRs, Issues and Risks when restoring.

As I discovered, if I export out the project as an MPP file, then
export the workspace ( using the -includeuser security switch ) I can
get all the PCRs , Issues and risks being restored.

However, if you have 100 projects like I do, its a slow process.

Actually, all I want to do is have a proper DR capability but stuff
just doesnt seem to "join up" so I have to do this manual export, copy
and import & sysnchronize routine.....annoying.....

Any thoughts welcome.

Thanks in advance

Hi SQL dude,

Moving Project SErver from one server to another is not an easy task. Since
Project schedules are actually not part of wss you cant use the stsadm
command prompt. Microsoft has a process documented on the TechNet, but our
experience is that it doesnt work. We designed out own process. Essentially
we export all project workspaces, then we backup the Project SErver
Databases. You can simple use the project server database and restore them to
the new environment, then you will need to re-import the exported workpsaces.
That, in our experience, has been the cleanest way of dealing with moving
servers.
Hope this helps
