i have a functioning database with a query i would like to export

When i use: doCmd.TransferText acExportDelim, ,"Qu_Lab results",-1

i get a run time error 3027
cannot update. database or object is read-only

i then tried to export the underlying table and get the same message

what gives?
i'm self taught and i don't understand this one.

The full syntax is:

TransferText([TransferType As AcTextTransferType = acImportDelim],
[SpecificationName], [TableName], [FileName], [HasFieldNames],
[HTMLTableName], [CodePage])

It looks to me that your statement left out the (destination) file pathname.
