Exported messages from Outlook to Excel chopped off

I exported some email messages from Outlook to an Excel file at my
previous job. Now when I try and read them in Excel the messages are
chopped off. Is the remainder of those messages now lost? I did use a
3rd party backup utility also, unfortunately I cannot locate that file
so this is all I have.

yes, the reminder of the message is gone unless you can find the backup.
Excel is not a good backup tool for outlook data.
