Exporting a query to Excel Workbook

When I run a query and export it to MS Excel (making sure
to select Excel 2000 Workbook), it seems as though it is
exported as a MS Excel 95 workbook.

In general this isn't a problem Excel 2000 can open it
and then resave it; however, an Excel 2000 workbook can
not externally link to this file without doing an open
and save....the error message is Unable to Read File.

I am creating data tables in Access that I export to
Excel. I then have an Excel template that externally
links to this table. It is annoying to have to open and
save the exported file before I can use the Excel
template.

This seems like a bug - does anyone know of a patch?
