Exporting a report to Word

Hello. I spent days creating a wonderful? database with forms & reports based
on queries blah blah blah... thinking that I could export the invoices I was
creating directly into into Word. When I use the "export to Word and Publish
it" button, it loses formatting and refuses to take the header of the Invoice
I created (which happens to be a small image). I tried to export it as an
html file but the results were even worse, and the information in the Header
section of my form was not there. It all looked great in the report in
Access, but just seemed unhappy in any other format.

My objective is to be able to create individual invoices for my customers
that I can email in a recognisable format such as Word. I even tried the
"Send to" function, but I use Gmail and it only seemed to want to use
Outlook. I tried investigating changing the default mail settings but couldnt
find any.

Apologise for being a bit dim, but I got some great help from someone
previously here and am hoping it wasnt just luck.

Am I missing something obvious or is it really that incompatible?
