Exporting an Outline

Hi:

Have become involved with soliciting publication while writing in word. Very
often a publisher would prefer to see a simple outline of the work in
progress, not the whole document.

My attempts to export an outline have proved impossible. Any time I clip a
reduced outline from outline view, and try to paste it into another file,
even a Notebook file, the entire original document gets pasted.

In despair I have worked around this by generating a table of contents and
pasting that. Does anyone out there have a better work around for EXPORTING
ONLY THE OUTLINE from an outlined word document.

If you can print the outline, you could print it to a pdf file.

Outline view is just another view of the entire document (with portions of
it hidden). As Charles suggests, you might be able to print directly from
Outline view to a PDF. Another approach is to create a TOC based on heading
styles or outline levels (as appropriate). You can paste the TOC field into
a separate document, unlink it, and send that.
