Exporting and importing contacts between Outlook and Excel

I am using W2K ja Outlook 2000.

I export contact information to xls. file, edit that and import back to
Outlook.

But if I touch first or last line in Excel, after exporting data from
Outlook, data corrupts.

I don´t know why but I have found that some kind of footer and header
for that file stays there. If I edit that I can´t import contact back to
Outlook (without errors).

Does somebody knows about that and is there any documentation?
