exporting as DOC from 2008

hi i created a document with several tables (none nested) and saved it as a
DOC file (rather than DOCX) on my mac as it had to be distributed to several
PC users who were on office 2003.

But the tables seemed to get screwed up, with each row on a different page
(almost uniformly, barring some exceptions). It seems to be that the 'split
apart page break and paragraph mark' setting in the compatibility setting was
causing the problem. However, this does not seem to be a sticky setting.
Could you tell me if I got the right solution?

Yes, you have the right solution.

If you turn "Do not allow rows to break over pages" and the row is too big
to fit on the page, it will be sent to the next page.

This has noting to do with working cross-platform: that's the way that
control functions.

Cheers

thanks John. HOwever, the rows are not that large! Each is only 2-3 lines and
yet, the rows are moved to a separate page each. Further this only happens
when I view the doc from a windows PC (in DOC format). The DOC and DOCX
format render the tabels just fine on my mac.

Can you email me a small sample, please?

I would like to see this one.
