exporting assignments timephased data

Hello,

I contacted about a dozen projects to a central resource pool based on
project 2007.
My goal is to create a pivot table summarizing work across all projects and
providing a way to drill down its data.
however, I experience difficulties in finding a way to export to excel the
assignments time phased data containing the project name, resource name, and
the monthly resource's work across the assignments.
I've tried to use the visual reports but couldn’t find all the relevant data.

Dear Daniel,

I understand your requirement as the time-phased assignment data of
resources needs to exported to excel, for pivot table analysis.

In Microsoft Office Project 2007 or its earlier version, the visual reports
or Save As to Excel workbook does not save the time-phased data.

My suggest is to to change use the "Analyze Timescaled Data in Excel ..." of
Analysis toolbar to export the timephased assignment data of resources to
excel.

Hello Daniel,

I assume you've tried the Resource Work Availability Report Visual
report but found you couldn't get the assignment name nor project name
from the report. As Sai correctly pointed out, saving as an Excel file
through the File > Save As command does not export timephased data
similar to the Resource Usage or Task Usage View. The Analyze
Timescaled data in Excel command is no longer available in Project 2007.

So, the two options:

Carefully copy/paste the data from the Resource Usage view. You'll need
to copy/paste each side of the view separately. You can add the project
field to the view to help identify which project the assignment comes
from.

Or

Export the timescaled data from Project to Excel using VBA. I believe
several of the VBA gurus have developed some code which will accomplish
that -- however, I don't believe that is freeware. You could try
posting your needs in detail to the Project Developer newsgroup for some
assistance with the process.

the time to invest in developing the process that works for your needs.
