Exporting contacts together with linked calendar events

After some calendar mess from defective syncing, I would like to start
from scratch, but at least keeping my linked calendar events
(birthdates). I know how to export the local contacts to a new
identity, and I know how to export local calendar events - however, how
do I keep the link when exporting?

Any help highly appreciated!
