exporting excel graphs to msgraph

R

Richard Bond

Hello,

My boss has asked me to write a generic routine to export a graph from Excel
to PowerPoint (using MSgraph). I have built some basic charts in MSgraph
before, which is how he came round to this idea.

I would have to do this for the following versions of office:
2000,2002,2003.

I am not sure if Msgraph can do everything that excel graphing can do, i.e.
is this viable in the first place?

Could someone think of potential problems with this task, as I am a bit
reluctant to do this. I have suggested copying and pasting the excel
object/picture, but "it must be as easy for the user to edit as possible".

regards,

Richard

Whatever for? AFAIK, almost everything PP+MS Graph can do PP+exported
XL chart can do. The one exception, IIRC, is that certain types of XL
charts are not amenable to component level animation whereas the same
chart types in Graph are.

I create a single XL file for a presentation (and of course, have a
single PP file as well). Now, for all practical purposes I treat the
two files as a 'inseparable pair.' And, if MS had ever made Binder work
properly, it would have been the perfect solution for such a scenario.

The original post started out with "The boss has asked ..."

But Richard, Tushar's entirely correct. If the boss is open to suggestion, you
might retain more hair by working through this in Excel.
