Exporting from Access to Ms Excel

Liam Mac

Hi All,
When we export a Access report to Excel then the column
sequence in excel is different from what is present in Access report.
For example in Access report is shown as :
Col 1 Col2 Col3 Col4
but when it is exported to excel it is coming as
Col3 Col1 Col2 Col4

Any help in this will be of great help...

Cheers,
Liamo

Exporting reports to Excel doensn't work too well as you have found out.
You could export the underlying query to excel, but you will lose any
grouping and formulas that exist in the report. You could do that grouping
and calculation in the query. I have never found it to useful to export the
report directly.

Open the report in design mode. Delete everything in the detail section.
Insert one text box in the detail section. Enter this in the text box:
=Col1&", "&Col2&", "&Col3&", "& Col4
Now your report will look like a CSV file. When Excel opens the file,
everything before the first comma will go in column A. Between first and
second comma in column B etc. The number of characters between commas is not
important unless they exceed what ever limit Excel may have for the number of
characters in a column.

Just a wizard prodder
