Hey Project server gurus,

i am experincing the a problem which exporting the PWA sites from one server
to another server.
What i did:

Exporting the pwa sites from server A through stsadm -o export -url
http://jdcwaqas/pwa -filename c:\backup.dat

creat new pwa instance on server B,
import the pwa site over newly created pwa instance.
import -url http://testhost:99/pwa -filename c:\backup.dat

all operation are sucessfully completed.

But the thing is that no project available in the new site, i am wondering
why its not moved all project from old site. even i go over server
setting>project workspace but their is no project listed over their.

We have totall 14 projects on old site. Please guide me where i am doing
wrong.

Hello,
This just exports and imports the Project Workspaces (the data stored in the
WSS Content DB), and not the projects themselves (stored in the drafts,
published and archive databases). You'll need to import these too (save the
project plan to an MPP file and then connect using project pro to the 2nd
instance and) and then save it to the server. Turn off Automatic WSS site
creation for publish, and then manually link the project workpace to the
published project in Server Settings | Project Workspaces.

Hey Ben,

Thanks for the reply. i could not get the stuff properly.
You mean, first i have to the save all projects one by one in a MPP file
then export the pwa instance, and import on the other server.
then upload the all project one by one to the new server.

i could not get it.

i have another question, when we run the full backup and restore it on
another server then its restore all the projects into the pwa site. Whats
difference between full back & recovery and import & export function.

Thanks.

I assume you mean a WSS backup and restore.... It takes the whole farm
configuration (including databases) and restores it onto the new server.
Import and export just takes the data, not the configuration.
