Andy
I've been searching the net the last 4 hours for this.
Brand new re-install of Vista x64 Ultimate; original install got damaged
with a dodgy driver install
Added Office 2003 to my install having finally decided to leave XP
Fully patched/service packed installs of Vista and Office before use.
Now, I'm trying to transfer my e-mal from Windows Mail to Outlook. I
originally exported my Windows Mail messages to a directory on my raid drive
with the intention of simply 'importing them'. Unfortunately whenever I try,
I get an error advising me that
"The mail folder could not be opened. If another application is using this
file, please close it and try again"
My very naive guess would be that it's something to do with UAC and admin
privillages preventing Outlook from access the folder.
I've seen more than a few promoting the option to 'File -> Export ->
Microsoft Exchange', but every attempt to do this is met with the Error "The
export could not be performed. An error occurred while initializing MAPI".
To answer a few of the common troubleshooting replies for this, I have
outlook set as my default mail client (via tools, options, other in outlook),
and both outlook and Windows mail are installed on this PC, and they have
been both fully patched/updated prior to use, and attempting all this.
My only thoughts here are that it may have something to do with my version
of Vista being 64 bit, and Outlook 2003 being ...... ?
I'm stuck.
Any successes or suggestions out there? Although I would consider
re-installation, I genuinely don't think thats an issue as this is already a
clean and uncomplicated install.
Thanks
Andy
