Exporting Outlook contacts to Winfax

F

faxylady

I am trying to export certain Outlook files to Winfax. When I first tried, I
exported the files to my desktop in dBase format. This exported the entire
Outlook Contacts file of 4,646 files. What I wish to do is export only about
200 contacts located in one certain category. How do I export only the files
in the one category instead of all the files in the entire contacts folder?

For example, I have all my Outlook contacts designated into Categories. I
only want to export to Winfax one certain category. How do I do this?

From the desktop, I imported into Winfax.

You can only export a folder, not a category.
So create a Contacts Folder, copy the members of a category into it and
export it.

How do you create a separate Contacts Folder in Outlook? I know its probably
simple, but I do not relate to this at the moment. Then be sure to
extrapolate on how to export this folder. Thanks.

Sorry to ask this again but I opened Ojtlook, clicked Contacts, View menu, by
Category. I highlighted the contacts I wanted, clicked Edit, copy. But then
I did not know how to create a new folder. How do you create a new folder in
Contacts?

You must be having trouble reading this thread. Are you using a news reader?
Here is the reply I gave yesterday.
Create your Folder first: File > New > Folder...

Then use the "By Category" view of your Contacts Folder, select the members
of a Category > Edit > Copy to Folder... to copy them to that Folder.

Thank you for your patience with me. What I did not understand was that you
meant click on Contacts in the Shortcut Bar to the left, then click File
Menu, New, Folder. The Create New Folder dialogue box comes up. Make sure
Contacts is highlighted, then type in Name of your new folder. OK. Then a box
comes us asking if you want to add this folder to your shortcut bar, yes, no.
Now the new folder will show up under Contacts. At this point you can click
View menu, By Category. Select the desired Contacts. Then Edit, Copy to
Folder

Another problem I have been having is how to get to this site from
Microsoft.com.. Some things seem to have been changed and it makes it
difficult to navigate to this site. Yesterday, i used a different computer
and could not find my posting until I got home and checked my email.

But you can create a new Contacts Folder from any location. So File > New >

Ah, I see.
You are using a web based overlay to Microsoft's NNTP servers.
No wonder you are having trouble.
In the future, you might want to consider accessing these groups directly
(msnews.microsoft.com) using a news reader (such as Outlook Express). It
would be far more reliable.
