Exporting Outlook Contacts

I have tried every which way to export my Outlook 2007 contacts to my
notebook which has XP and regular Outlook Express. I always get an
error message telling me it was unable to use the file.

Am I trying to do the impossible ?

You're welcome! :)

Unfortunately it did not work, even though I rendered it to ;
separated file. On the notebook it seems to want to load a Wab file
and maybe I am being thick, but I never see an option for Wab.

I also tried a .pst file with no success. I just have too many
addresses to want to do it one by one :)

The only other thought I have is that Contacts in Office 2007 has so
much info per person, address, 'phone number etc. that perhaps that is
what makes it too cumbersome for Outlook Express ? Perhaps I need to
render it down to just name and email address ?

TIA for any further help.

If you use Outlook to export to a COntacts folder to a CSV using the default
mapping, then import that file into Outlook Express using the default mapping,
the contacts will transfer just fine. I've done it myself.

That didn't work either. Sometimes one doesn't think of the obvious -
tonight I will take the file (as a matter of interest) and see if I
can install it on my old computer which also runs XP, if it does,
maybe that says the notebook is somehow at fault. It's become
somewhat like a moskie buzzing around now :)

Outlook will always export to a comma.
Outlook Express will look at the configured list separator symbol configured
in Windows. If that is set to a comma as well, it should import.

Another way around would be to use the Import feature within OE on the
machine with Outlook to get the contacts into OE. Then transfer the wab-file
of OE on the Outlook machine to OE on non-Outlook machine.
