exporting Powerpoint files to AVI for videos

I need to export Powerpoint files directly from Powerpoint
to an editable video format. I upgraded to Office 2003
with Microsoft Producer with the hope of using a rumored
feature to do this. I cannot find it anywhere in their
documentation or support. This is the rumor source:

Am I missing part of the tutorial or does that only cover importing video
into PowerPoint?

I thought Producer would be able to do this too, but it does not transform
many of the animations/slide transitions/etc.

Camtasia Studio from www.techsmith.com is the best app I've found for this
task, although PresenterSoft PowerVideo Maker (www.presentersoft.com) is
supposed to be able to do this too. I have not had much luck using the
PresenterSoft tool, but Camtasia Studio has worked (just about) for me.

You will want to follow the advice in the tutorial about making the
animations run as smoothly as possible though - because these applications
record exactly what is displayed on screen.
