Exporting reports in snapshot format

Leslie Isaacs

Hello All

I am currently using A97, but am likely to upgrade to A2003 soon.

I need to email batches of reports (~ 5-10 reports to a batch) to various
recipients, who will have various versions of Office - from no version at
all, to Office Pro2003.

I have been looking at "Snapshot Viewer for Access 2003, 2002, 2000, and
97", downloadable from
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=b73df33f-6d74-423d-
8274-8b7e6313edfb&displaylang=en. Is this as good as it seems - i.e. free of
charge, and it preserves all the formatting of any report perfectly?
Obviously I would need to send instructions to all potential recipients on
downloading and using Snapshot Viewer, but that seems pretty trivial.

Is there anything else I should be aware of?

I would be grateful for any advice.

Many thanks
Leslie Isaacs

I think it works great. Looks just like your Access report preview. Does
not let the end user edit or change the data - which is good in most cases,
but bad if the recipients are used to copying the data into another program.

Why don't you use CutePDF writer (free :) which allows you to save the report
in PDF format, that way your recepients don't have to load snapshot viewer,
as long as they have acrobat reader of course and who doesn't these days.

Thank you for your reply.
A PDF file sounds great, but the format options for the 'Output to' macro
command do not include PDF.
Is there some other way of doing it?

Thanks for you help.
Les.

I would go with pdf as well. Snapshot in general is pretty good but I have
heard of a few
weird problems, but pdf is by far the better standard just because everyone
has the viewer.

We sell code to make batches of pdf files and email them.

Hello Mark
Thanks for your information.
What are the few weird problems - anything critical.
I would be interested to know more about your code to make batches of pdf
files - please let me know.
Many thanks
