Exporting Timephased From Project Server 2007 To Excel

OK, we're new to this, so we have Project Server with a number of projects
sharing from a central resource pool. We want to be able to generate an excel
doc which has....

For each week the % of each resources scheduled time on each project.
For each week the % of each resources actual time on each project.

.....how'd we do that then? :)

Thanks for any help. I have searched for info on this, so apologies if it's
the most asked question in history.

Have you configured your Data Analysis and run the cubes? If so, you would
then be able to create a Data Analysis view under Server Settings>Manage
Views and show the planned and actual hours by schedule by day, month, year
(can't remember if week is available).

Out of curiosity, how does actual time from your resources get into the
project schedule in your environment? Are you using the task statusing
feature in PS or are the PMs progressing the tasks themselves in the
schedule?

Re Data Analysis - thanks for this, this has got me some of the way. How can
I get this data out and into excel? (Probably missing an obvious button).

Re: Where does the actual data come from. The plan is to use the My Tasks
screen in timephased layout to get the team members to input their actual
work (+ any remaining adjustments).

When you create a Data Analysis view and have a pivot table, you should see
an Excel icon next to the red exclamation mark in the toolbar area. The
Excel icon allows you to export the data to Excel.

Hope this helps,

Another way is to use MSQuery from Excel to read data from the reporting db.
The reporting db schema is in the Project SDK (free download)
