exporting to excel in 97

I had a response for converting over 16,000 records to
excel 97 from access 97 with this link.

it has a code there. I am not sure where I am supposed to
copy and paste this code.

Can someone help me with this? I tried copying it to a
modeule but got an error hightlighting ".ScreenUpdating ="

I am not sure how to get this macro to run so I can export
all of my 21,000 rows to excel.
