Exporting to Excel

I am trying to find a way to export data to an excel
workbook template. In access I have records that need to
be updated by remote users and an excel file formatted for
the data entry. I'm trying to export data from access
into this file without over writing it so it can be sent
to the user to be updated. Can this be done?

I could design the entire application in access but not
all of the users have it installed. Is there an access
run time that would allow a user to run the application
without having access installed?
