Expression Boxes

Nikki

I realise that you have already disucussed this but I didn't completely
understand the answer that was given. Can you sum expression boxes? My
problem is that I have used expression boxes to add fields together and now I
need a grand total. I want to have a total box that is the sum of the column,
but the column is purely expression boxes (as they are row totals) - can I
add expression boxes together? If so how (as they do not have field or group
names)?

Quick workaround - just copy the expressions from sub-totals into the
formula for the grand total.

Hello,

I don't think you can this purely with expressions.

But you can easily to this via script or managed code...

Hi Alex,

this might work when you have a fixed number of sub-totals. But what about
something like an invoice, where the user can add rows dynamically during
the filling out of the form?

I'm undoubtedly being dense but maybe...

If Nikki doesn't want these subtotals cluttering up his schema, would
it be possible for him to create a "throwaway" secondary schema where
he temporarily stores these subtotals (displaying them in readonly
textboxes rather than as expressionboxes), and then sums them, using
traditional means, for his grand total?
