Expression Web: FTP or not FTP... that is the question!

I cannot find an Expression Web Forum, so I thought this would be the most
appropriate place to field an EW question. Hope that's OK?

I have a recurent problem FTP'ing a site to the web server. As soon as I hit
the "Publish" button, before making any connection with the server, EW
generates this message:

"FTP transmits the user name and password without encryption. If possible,
open the Web site by using an HTTP URL to help protect it from potential
network attack". EW will not let me FTP anything.

Could anyone help me FTP please.
Thank you, CJ

Don' use the Publish button
Use File Publish from the menu (or Remote Web Site View) and set your Remote Web Site Properties

PS
the EW newsgroup is microsoft.public.expression.webdesign

Hi Stefan,

Thanks for your reply. I've been doing just what you say: File>Publish
Site>Remote Web Site Props. (FTP Option Selected).

Have you any ideas please? I'll be sure to post future EW queries to the
right forum .
Thanks,
CJ

Unsure whether the response was spam or a offer of help. If it was the
latter, much appreciated, although I would expect EW to have an in-built
facility to simply FTP a website without the need for me to spend more money
buying an add-on.
Thanks,
CJ

Hi Steve,

I began to doubt myself. But yes, I'm using the correct address format as
you have shown.

Thanks,CJ

Hi Steve,

The problem has just dissappeared and all of a sudden it's working. I can
assure you I've done absolutely nothing different - other than morincally
keep trying to publish again and again.

In response to your question, EW would not allow me to continue or even
access/view the web server. (However, my gut feeling is that the problem will
emerge again for seemedly no apparent reason). This is one amongst a list of
frustrations I have with EW. Ah well, I've paid for it and need to tick
compliance boxes so I'll just put up with it until MS run some patches.

Thanks again,

CJ
