Expresssions web page

I have an Expressions Web Page question and cannot seem to find the
usergroup, so I will post here. If someone can point me to that usergroup, I
would appreciate it. In FP2003, I had buttons at the bottom, 'Design, Code,
Split and Preview'. The 'Preview' button is not there in the Expressions
program. It's a major advantage to be able to take a look at the page
without saving it. Did they take this feature away when they made
Expressions? If so, that was a big mistake.
Thanks in advance, Pam

It is much easier to use a newsreader (such as Outlook Express or Windows
Mail) than a web interface to find the newsgroups. The one that you want is
microsoft.public.expression.webdesigner.

For this question, the answer is that it was removed. The reason being that
the users will get a much better feel for how their page will look by using
an actual browser as opposed to a stripped down variant of what was
available when the software came out. Just as in FP, you can use >File
Preview in browser to launch your web application and open it in a browser,
with options for the various browsers you have installed and various screen
dimensions. To help facilitate this EW also includes a web server in its
installation.

Thanks for your response, I will check out the other newsgroup. However, I
still think it was a big mistake to remove the Preview window. I know you
get a better idea of how it looks in an actual browser, but you still need to
save it before you can. Not always an option when you are trying out
different things. I know I can save the page to a new name and try out my
changes, but every extra step takes more time.

The Design window in EW is probably more accurate than the FP Preview window
in displaying standards based code (which EW produces) and any current
inaccuracies will be being addressed.

It is always better to preview in a real browser and although you have to
save the page to do this you also have the undo and redo icons which allow
an instant switch to previous content. Plus of course a preview window could
not show dynamic content.
