extend.dat

Cannot find extend.dat on startup of Outlook 2007. File does not exist; I
have done the proper search with required folder settings. No file to rename
or delete anywhere on computer. Outlook never does create the file. What do I
do?

Vista. Outlook 2007 12.0 in Office Standard. IE8.

I reinstalled Office with Outlook 2007 on new laptop replacement. Also
Norton Internet Security.

paste this in the start search field on the start menu and press enter.
%USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook

extend.dat will be in that folder with your pst files.

Thanks. That did it! I did have to change security and permissions for
extend.dat, but I am good to go now.

paste this in the start search field on the start menu and press enter.
%USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook

extend.dat will be in that folder with your pst files.
