Extend PST size after Outlook 2007 upgrade

Looking at a user's Outlook on their home PC. Originally they had Outlook
XP, then upgraded to Outlook 2003 and recently to Outlook 2007. Their PST
still hits that 2GB limit at times so they periodically archive older
emails/folders. My understanding is that there is a 20GB limit on Outlook
2007. Why am I still hitting the 2GB barrier? Does the PST not get
converted to the new format when an upgrade is performed on an older PST?
What is the best way to convert their PST to the new format so the 2GB limit
issue goes away? Thanks.

Upgrade installations of Outlook are not recommended for many reasons. If
that's what was done, then of course the PST file would not get changed.
You'd need to create a new PST file in the new version to have the new size
limits.

No it doesn't.

The best way is to create a new UNICODE format pst file and either copy all
the old data to it, or set it as the default delivery location and just
leave the old pst as it it. (Depends on how much data there is....)

Outlook won't convert the pst, you need to make a new one using the new

You need to covert the file size and format before moving to Office 2007 and
vice versa. I suggest read this simple guide from Microsoft:
