Extensions admin

I've got IIS 5.1 on an XP Pro SP2 box with Extensions 2000. Then I downloaded the 2002
extensions and installed them.

In the IIS console, if I attempt any of the Tasks (Check Server Extensions 2002) or look
at Properties | Server Extensions, I get a logon prompt, and I don't know what it wants.....

I do not log onto (into?) Windows when the computer starts. I am an admin on the box.

It is looking for the UserId and Password for the user who has been
entered as the web administrator. Note that the password cannot be
empty - you may have to give yourself a password.

Thanks Ron -
I don't recall setting up a web admin, but in an install fog may have. This issue only
affects the 2002 stuff, and the web works fine.
Is this a separate user from the XP user? IIS will not let me (under New | Server
Extensions 2002 Administrator) set up a user. If it's a Windows user, does that mean I'll
have to sign on every time I start the machine? Dang, I hate that.

FYI
You can get the MS powertoy tweakui which will auto log you into Windows

IMHO
running IIS & WinXp Pro w/ a strong password is flirting w/ disaster

Hi Stefan -
I've got tweakui, but it's not set up for signon. I also peeked at the registry settings
that are supposed to control whether a password is required, and one is set, the other
not. I presume we're talking about Windows passwords. At this point, I'm not sure if I can
set a password on my current user name, and I have NO idea what the top level admin is.

What's your reasoning on passwords and disaster? I just find it irksome to go through all
that for a single user home machine.

Course if I never have to repair the 2002 extensions, it's all a moot point, I suppose.

I wonder why I didn't go through the password thing when I ran the IIS
gaunlet the other day on new setup?

I'm running XP Pro but with only one user still (me as the Admin)...haven't
setup a standard user yet.

Hi Rob -
I had an easier time of the setup than you did, but now.....
Single user here too. So you don't get the signon prompts for extension 2002 stuff? Do you
sign into XP?

You mean to go into IIS Admin? No.

Since I havent created any user accounts on XP (still using orig admin) I
don't get any prompts...jus tthe cute little pix of my guitar to click on
with my name next to it...thats it.

I'm trying to keep stuff simple for now until I get used to the gui of xp.
And still have lots of programs to switch over too...
